Here Is What You Will Do
  • Effectively conduct the annual audits and yearly inventory of the Property/Evidence function in accordance with State Certification.
  • Receive, store, and secure all property and evidence seized or collected for custody from GSUPD members.
  • Maintain custody of evidence and property, ensuring preservation, accounting, and accurate record‑keeping per local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Process crime scenes for the Police Department, including collecting and processing physical evidence, photographing scenes, lifting and classifying fingerprints, and testifying in court.
  • Compile reports and maintain records for proper documentation.
  • Photograph and record video of crime scenes, persons, and property.
  • Work with officers to teach proper packaging, logging, and data entry procedures for evidence within the property and evidence module.
This Position May Require

24‑hour on‑call assignments, overtime, working weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of administrative experience, or a high school diploma/GED and five years of administrative experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Requirements
  • P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certification as a Crime Scene Technician, or obtain within one year of employment.
  • P.O.S.T. certification as a Latent Print Examiner with AFIS training and experience, or obtain within one year of employment.
  • Experience in analyzing and retrieving latent prints.
  • Digital photography and video experience.
  • Experience working with a police agency.
  • Skilled in time management, effective communication, and interaction with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
