Financial Manager, CFO
Position Summary
Reporting to the CFO, assist with the development of the organization annual budget, planning and financial forecasting processes; administer and review all daily financial operations, prepare accounting entries for CFO review and approval, prepare budgets to actual reports and collaborate on grants management to ensure grants are appropriately leveraged. Supervise Accounts Payable and Receivable and ensure monthly Bank Reconciliation are completed timely each month.
Lead the monthly closing process, prepare and present financial statements post-closing to CFO for review and analysis. Assist in all organizational or program audits.
- Execute daily financial operation in an effective and efficient manner
- Timely notification to the CFO of potential operations obstacles with recommendations
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to Directors
- Staff coaching and development
- Ensure grant billing align with accounting system
- Successful and timely monthly close and presentation of financial reports
- Oversee all financial operations processes
- Partner with Director of Grant management and Sr. Directors for all grant management and reporting
- Collaborate with CFO on all forecast cycles for all revenue and expenses
- Supervise finance and billing staff
- Lead the maintenance of the financial systems
- Initiate and recommend all needed training and system improvements
- Partner with CFO to develop appropriate financial KPIs for the department and organization
- Lead all audits including the annual financial & compliance audit and 990 process
- Define, document and develop processes and procedures
- Support the CFO and provide insight and answers to financial matters and concerns
- Actively participate in team meetings and provide solution-based ideas.
The Director of Finance is a trusted partner with the CFO and within the organization. Work and collaborate with varying staff levels to gain insight into business operations. The Director of Finance is someone who informs the CFO of potential operations obstacles, material budget variances and makes recommendations for solutions.
Personality and communication (soft skills)The Director of Finance delivers superior customer service to the Organization; knows how to channel interpersonal skills to be seen as a go-to leader who takes initiative and is proactive.
Experience- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, MBA preferred - Work Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in finance with at least two years in a leadership capacity. - Industry Knowledge:
Experience working in the nonprofit and with government grants funding is required. Must know and understand allocation methodologies and Fund Accounting.
