This Position reports to:
Local Product Group Controller and FP&A Lead.

Role focus

Your role and responsibilities:
The Senior FP&A Specialist supports cost analysis and financial planning activities for their assigned function/organization, assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes, and contributing to data-driven decision-making to improve financial performance of the specific function.

Location

The work location for this role:
Auburn Hills, MI is the preferred location for this role. Remote candidates located near Cary, NC or Atlanta, GA will be considered.

Core Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze transactions to ensure correct accounting entries according to ABB Accounting and Reporting Guidelines.
  • Perform controls within your area as designed, maintain an audit trail and documentation for audits/reviews, ensure SOPs are prepared and updated.
  • Active participation in closing processes (journal entries, reviewed allocated cost, and preparing reports).
  • Support the preparation of financial reporting, business planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Continuously analyze project performance versus budget and actual results, and highlight/issue early warnings of poor results.
  • Account reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet accounts.
  • Cost center expense tracking, analysis and Manager support/training.
  • Prepare financial modeling for various hypotheses and the overall impact to the business unit.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements to enhance the accuracy of financial analysis and reporting.
  • Other regular financial reporting and ad hoc work as requested weekly/daily from Local BU Controller.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred but will consider equivalent work experience.
  • Strong understanding of FP&A and business process.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in finance, controllership and accounting leadership, preferably in a similar industry (automation, industrial manufacturing, operations, etc.).
  • Experience with finance tools and systems including process improvement; SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
  • Change management experience and lead by influence; ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability and desire to work within a global, matrixed environment highly preferred.
