Senior Underwriter

Position Overview

A Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting mortgages on income‑producing property in the company’s multi‑family agency lines to support the achievement of the company’s loan productionнікаў. The primary accountability is conducting a comprehensive and thorough analysis of each transaction which results in a prudent decision on whether or not to extend credit to a borrower. This is accomplished through the application of analytical techniques, research and pertinent underwriting guidelines through all stages of the underwriting process, including quotes, applications, underwriting, loan committee approval, closing, and securitization or loan delivery.

Timely completion of all responsibilities is critical to the success of our business.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Underwriting
    • Establish underwriting timeline in conjunction withിപ്രായ Cuba loan officer and closing coordinator.
    • Oversee generation of borrower’s checklist for the proper product type and introduce borrower to the informationאָגן.
    • Select contractors and initiate necessary third‑party reports (appraisal, environmental, engineering).
    • Conduct due diligence review of property market, location, condition, borrower and principal’s mortgage credit issues, property management, and other relevant risks.
    • Review and analyze appraisal, market analysis, property description, real‑estate tax analysis, fără zoning analysis, and comparable properties.
    • Review and analyze engineering and environmental reports, plus additional reports included in the underwriting.
    • Conduct site and market visits.
    • Summarize the transaction by preparing a presentation for the Loan Committee.
  • Management
    • Directly oversee and train an underwriting analyst.
    • Manage timecard and PTO approval for the analyst.
    • Train analyst on day‑to‑day underwriting tasks and credit review.
    • Participate in the review process for the analyst.
    • Communicate and problem‑solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including a good working knowledge of market factors relevant to multifamily property, occupancies, rent levels, expense items, and experience working with appraisers and engineering/environmental firms required.
  • Underwriting experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in underwriting, including strong working knowledge of the key players in the industry, identification of credit and sponsor risks, and evaluation of alternative risks.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data quickly, make decisions based on imperfect data, and take action to move transactions forward.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills at all levels of management.
  • Commitment to innovation, change, and initiative.
  • Ability to develop and execute solutions to complex issues and transactions.
  • Extensive multifamily experience across a wide range of financial and product executions.
  • Business management experience and capacity to lead in closing deals.
  • Ownership of work, willingness to embrace challenges, and patience in learning new processes.

Salary

Estimated base salary: $95,000 – $110,000 plus discretionary bonus. Final offer based on experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market data.
