What You Will Be Responsible For

As a Fund Accounting & Administration Officer, you will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and reporting of performance investment data for global real estate funds and affiliated entities. The Fund Controller Group (FCG) is part of the Real Assets Fund Administration Services team within the State Street Global Services’ Alternative Investment Solutions division, located in the Atlanta office.

FCG provides our clients and investors with annual and quarterly financial reports, management, acquisition and fee calculations, investor capital notices, fund and investment return calculations, and various other investor reports. The team has extensive knowledge of fund structures, investor LP agreements, financial reporting, investment make‑up, and the investor base of real‑estate funds.

Through continuous interaction with client executive management and the IT department, our goal is to develop systems and business processes that prepare and fund administration services accurately, with quality, and timely.

This role maintains direct client relationships and handles day‑to‑day accounting and administration for investment funds and affiliated entities.

  • Supervising all lower level staff (including Associate 1, Associate 2, and Senior Staff)
  • Managing client relationships with client personnel and fund investors
  • Reviewing quarterly and annual financial work paper packages, including portfolio schedules, accruals, and PCAP allocations
  • Reviewing quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes
  • Preparing annual tax work paper packages
  • Preparing capital calls and distributions, including notices and release merged documents
  • Reviewing monthly bank reconciliations and posting journal entries
  • Reviewing quarterly management fee calculations
  • Preparing client‑related correspondence
  • Coordinating with the database team on client deliverables such as financial statements, capital calls, and distribution notices
  • Heavy client interaction on a daily basis
  • Coordinating annual audit and tax return preparation with Big 4 accounting firms
  • Preparing waterfall and capital account allocations
  • Navigating limited partnership agreements
  • Preparing estimated tax work papers
  • Maintaining working relationships with all client contacts, including investment professionals, investors, auditors, lawyers, and banking personnel
  • Ensuring compliance with investment fund legal documents, i.e., partnership agreement
  • Assisting accounting managers to ensure compliance with investment fund agreements and other legal documents
  • Managing special client projects
  • Managing internal workflow and client deadlines
  • Identifying and reporting any unusual or potentially suspicious transaction activity in accordance with corporate policy and guidelines
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of general ledger accounting or audit experience
  • 1 year of leadership experience
  • Previous financial reporting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP)

  • Real Estate, Fund, or Private Equity accounting experience
  • CPA or CPA‑Candidate
  • Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills
  • Well‑organized, detail oriented, analytical individual
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and work under pressure while delivering high quality work
