Reditus Space is seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Materials Engineering Intern to support the development and qualification of advanced thermal protection systems (TPS) for the ENOS reentry capsule. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates in materials science, chemical engineering, aerospace, or mechanical engineering — as well as trade school students with experience in composites or lab‑based materials work. You’ll play a critical role in manufacturing TPS and supporting testing in clean rooms and at NASA and partner facilities.
Responsibilities- Manufacture TPS materials using thermal cure and layup processes
- Mix and handle thermoset resins and composite reinforcement fabrics
- Prepare mechanical and thermal test specimens and assist in characterization
- Support materials testing campaigns at NASA and partner facilities
- Maintain detailed records of fabrication methods, procedures, and results
- Student or recent graduate in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, or technical trades
- Hands‑on experience with composites, polymers, or high‑temperature materials preferred
- Strong safety awareness and lab discipline when working with chemicals and thermal systems
- Willingness to travel for testing and fieldwork
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a flight‑critical subsystem
This is a unique opportunity to work directly on reentry materials with real flight hardware and collaborate with top‑tier researchers and national labs. Exceptional interns may be invited to return for future programs or full‑time roles.
