Certification Engineer

Job Description & Skill Requirement

• 1. B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred.
• 2. Four (4) to seven (7) years overall work experience in an engineering role. Engineering internships and Co‑op assignments may be applied to experience requirements.
• 3. Must possess some knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
• 4. Must have strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency with MS Office programs.
• 5. Must be familiar with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods and aerospace hardware.
• 6. Must be organized and an effective individual contributor, presenting good communication skills and a professional appearance.

• 7. Knowledge of aircraft interiors.
• 8. Experience as a certification engineer, design engineer, or substantiation engineer.

• 1. Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, conformity inspection plans.
• 2. Develop substantiation reports and test plans / reports for flammability and cabin safety.
• 3. Draft certification presentations for all meetings and manage small STC / PMA projects for certification requirements including data deliverables from suppliers, and coordinating responses to inquiries, significant certification issues and airworthiness concerns.
• 4. Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes.
• 5. Support the relationship with FAA regulatory agencies via project presentations.
• 6. Interface with customers, suppliers and other project stakeholders pertaining to certification of modification projects.
