Land Surveyor; Highway Project

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (). We are currently looking for a Land Surveyor to join our team for a Highway Project in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

-Estimated duration of the position: 4-6 months - In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

- Summary:

Field Land Surveyor supporting paving and roadway construction activities, responsible for layout, grade control, and as‑built documentation across active highway environments. Ensures accurate field measurements, precise construction staking, and continuous coordination with construction leadership to maintain production, safety, and quality standards.

• Construction Layout:
  Perform horizontal and vertical control, establish reference points, and provide staking for roadway, paving, drainage, and structural elements.
• Machine Control Support:
  Assist with setup, calibration, and verification of GPS and robotic machine‑control systems (if applicable).
• Grade Verification:
  Conduct grade checks for paving operations, ensuring compliance with design elevations, cross‑slopes, and tolerances.
• Quantity Verification:
  Measure and document quantities for earthwork, paving, and materials to support production tracking and payment documentation.
• As‑Built Data Collection:
  Capture accurate field data for as‑built drawings, digital models, and project turnover documentation.
• Coordination with Superintendent and Field Engineers:
  Communicate survey needs, resolve discrepancies, and support daily construction planning and sequencing.
• Daily Reporting:
  Maintain detailed daily logs of survey activities, field conditions, and progress updates.
• Night shift experience in active highway environments is highly preferred due to traffic control constraints, accelerated schedules, and continuous paving operations.

- Working Hours:

Day and night shifts

• Bachelor Degree in Topography, Civil Engineering, Geomatics or similar.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a land surveyor in heavy civil / roadway construction. Experience with DOT projects preferred.

  Skills:
  
  Total Station & GPS (Trimble, Leica or similar), Civil 3D knowledge preferred, Machine control experience (preferred but not mandatory).
• Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments.
• Available for day and/or night shifts.
• Working for an international company currently expanding.
• Salary and other benefits accordingly.
• 22 paid vacation days + 5 working days of sick leave (100% salary).
• Relocation package:
• Trip from and to where the candidate is located at the beginning and at the end of the project.
• Two weeks at a hotel when you arrive in the city of the project.
