TRC is working alongside a nimble firm in the aerospace arena that is seeking a Contract Aerospace Engineer to help a small team of engineers advance novel concepts for high-speed flight research through modeling and simulation. US Citizenship required. This is a contract role to start. Position can be remote or in Atlanta.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Design and optimize mission trajectories (ascent, orbital operations, re-entry, landing) using 3-DOF and multidisciplinary optimization tools
• Perform flight performance assessments including ΔV budgets, mass margins, and staging trade studies
• Develop and refine aerodynamic concepts from requirements definition through detailed design using CFD and lower-order methods
• Predict and assess aerothermal environments during ascent and re-entry, including aero-thermal-structural interactions
• Conduct modeling, simulation, and multidisciplinary analysis of high-speed atmospheric and space systems
• Collaborate with a small, cross-functional technical team to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years of aerospace industry experience in flight performance, aerodynamics, or aerothermal engineering
• Experience designing/modeling hypersonic vehicles, launch systems, or spacecraft
• Strong background in multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight systems
• Experience supporting flight development programs (e.g., UAVs, missiles, Cube Sats)
• Familiarity with Monte Carlo, uncertainty, or risk analysis methods
• Comfortable working with ownership and autonomy in a small business environment
• U.S. citizenship required
