POSITION POSTED UNTIL A VIABLE POOL OF CANDIDATES HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology or related discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working on construction, remodeling, retrofitting, rail or mass transit projects or on projects within the general infrastructure environment such as track maintenance, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, etc. Ability and knowledge to read and understand contract specification and drawings. Ability to read and generally understand applicable codes.
Knowledge and understanding of engineering and architectural terminology and general practices. Knowledge and understanding of engineering and architectural terminology specifically related to the mass transit and rail industry. Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. In lieu of the educational requirement, directly related experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis.
The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARYEnsures that contractors performing MARTA rapid rail and facilities projects comply with applicable building codes, regulations, contract specifications, and drawings through ongoing, regular inspections, usually in a specific area of assignment or expertise (i.e., architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, rail, etc.). Manages several projects simultaneously. May mentor and/or train lower-level field inspection staff.
This position has direct responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Additionally, this position has been identified as designated personnel and is required to adhere to the following:
- § 49 U.S. Code § 5329, Public Transportation Safety Program and Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act.
- § 49 CFR Part 674, State Safety Oversight.
- § 49 CFR Part 673, Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan.
- § 49 CFR Part 672, Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program.
- § 49 CFR Part 670, National Public Transportation Safety Program.
- § 49 CFR Part 630, Transit Asset Management.
- § 49 CFR Part 625, National Transit Database; and the Georgia Program Standard
OSHA 30 and Authority's Safety Compliance certifications preferred.
