Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer designs automated machines for our projects in the high-tech industries of Electric Vehicles, Battery manufacturing and Medical devices. Based on initial concepts the engineer provides the mechanical design that will accomplish the required functions, fulfills the specification of the project and complies with the applicable standards.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

• Determine design solutions for machinery and machine parts.
• Technical and economic judgement of customized solutions.
• Generate equipment drawings for manufacturing.
• Definition of purchase parts and creation of technical specifications
• Perform design reviews internally and with the customer and obtain approvals.
• Calculation of strength, lifetime and wear of components.
• GD&T (Dimensioning and Detailing)
• Creation of Bill Of Materials and spare part lists.
• Creation of technical diagrams (functional diagrams and device layouts)
• Perform risk assessments in machine safety.
• Ensure that designs are compliant with OSHA regulations.
• Schedule planning and follow up.
• Communication with customers and internal departments.
• If required, temporary takeover of the role as a main responsible for mechanical engineering within the project and on behalf of the Project Manager.

EXPERIENCES/QUALIFICATIONS :

• A bachelor's degree, specializing in Mechanical Design Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-7 years of experience in CAD and Engineering of custom automated industrial machinery.
• Experience with 3D-CAD Design tools, ideally Solid Works.
• Good knowledge of ISO / OSHA / cGMP requirements and current industry practices
• Ideally, relevant experience in mechanical design of custom-built machinery for Medical, EV and Automotive.
• Ideally, basic knowledge in leading a project.
• Good knowledge in pneumatics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Structured working methods, confident appearance and strong team player skills.
