Overview
Seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for construction projects. The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) provides construction management services to numerous clients in a multitude of business sectors throughout the United States. WT has delivered successful projects in healthcare, higher education, laboratories, business offices, manufacturing, retail development, food processing and warehouse development. Construction activities are broad and require the EH&S Engineer to have a wide range of technical and managerial expertise.

- Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions have been completed.
- Support incident investigations including interviews, data compilation, photographs and proper documentation.
- Evaluate planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up, and other regulations for effective mitigation techniques.
- Apply Industrial Hygiene principles and techniques in Hearing Conservation, Lasers, Silica, Asbestos, Lead work, among others.
- Understand fire protection, flammable/combustible materials storage and management.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of OSHA regulations.

- Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety related field
- Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples)
- BCSP (GSP or ASP)
- Demonstrated commitment to the project team, adherence to company expectations, and dedication to improving the safety culture within the business unit.
- Professional communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Personal development and commitment to ongoing advancement and development.
- Work is conducted in both indoor office settings and outdoor construction jobsite settings, requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing and bending.
- Work hours are determined on a project or assignment basis.
- Noise level varies by location.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
