Georgia Power’s Land Department is seeking a motivated GIS Technician to assist in managing and maintaining spatial data systems. This entry-level position will support various GIS-related tasks including data entry, map creation, QA/QC, and database maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or have up to 2 years of experience in a GIS environment and a passion for spatial data.
KeyResponsibilities:
Assist with data entry, updates, and QA/QC in GIS databases
Support spatial data maintenance and integration across systems
Create maps and exhibits to support land acquisition and project updates
Combine data from multiple sources for cartographic products
Produce feasibility and project update maps
Attend training to develop proficiency in GIS tools and standards
Assist senior GIS Analysts in larger project initiatives
Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software, including Arc Map and ArcGIS Pro
Basic geoprocessing and cartographic skills
Experience working with enterprise GIS databases a plus
Exposure to ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal or Arc Server preferred
Understanding of metadata and QA/QC processes
Proficient in data visualization and map production
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
Strong organizational and workload management skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team-oriented and customer-focused
Adaptable and able to work under pressure
