Roadway Testing Technician III (RTT) – Opportunity
WSP’s Engineered Construction team is growing and we have an opportunity for a Roadway Testing Technician III (RTT) in Atlanta, GA to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. We seek experienced construction engineering inspectors with RTT, ACI (or GDOT equivalent) and other certifications.
Your Impact- Perform testing on general building sites and facilities.
- Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone in accordance with ASTM and project specifications at commercial construction sites.
- Perform sampling and testing of concrete per ASTM and project specifications.
- Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations, density calculations, and results.
- Observe proof rolls, undertake undercut operations, perform footing inspections with dynamic cone penetrometer, and inspect rebar.
- Work in accordance with company safety policies.
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
- Interact with client representatives (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
- Analyze or calculate data to assess accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of testing results.
– Required Qualifications
- Valid Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) Certification.
- Valid GDOT concrete and/or ACI Field Concrete Testing certifications.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of related experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliability – must arrive at designated project sites before scheduled times.
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Excel.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
- Must pass physical, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s MVR policy.
- 7+ years of construction materials testing experience on commercial or transportation projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing) or equivalent.
- ICC and/or NICET certifications for Concrete, Steel, Bolting, Soil/Earthwork, Asphalt, Wood, Fire.
- NACE Coatings inspection certification.
- Troxler or equivalent certification.
- Ability to evaluate soil subgrade before placement of fill and perform standard Proctor and moisture checks.
- Ability to read and understand site grading drawings.
- Other GDOT certifications.
- Physical examination required for medical clearance.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Clean driving record and ability to obtain insurance for company vehicles.
- Capacity to work in variable outdoor conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
