Director of State of Good Repair Engineering

The successful candidate will direct MARTA’s long‑range Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for the rehabilitation, enhancement, expansion, safety, and regulatory compliance of complex infrastructure, including but not limited to station rehabilitation, track renovations, bus and rail maintenance buildings, full infrastructure system replacements, fare collections, audio‑visual information systems, and other transit infrastructure required to be brought to a state of good repair.

• Manage and direct MARTA’s long‑range CIP for rehabilitation, enhancement, expansion, safety, and regulatory compliance of complex infrastructure.
• Serve as the lead in the solicitation, selection, management, and administration of architectural and engineering consultants; manage contracts and payment of invoices.
• Provide support throughout the full state‑of‑good‑repair project lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, testing, operations and maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Direct MARTA and contract personnel, including other business units, to ensure that all activities related to MARTA’s design and construction projects achieve scope, schedule, and budget compliance.
• Manage all contracts related to equipment rehabilitation and maintenance of existing infrastructure.
• Oversee the program management of contracts during design, manufacturing, installation, and testing to ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Coordinate contract activities with Technology, Contracts and Procurement, Legal, Budget, Finance, Architecture, Construction, and Project Controls.
• Participate in planning, design, pre‑bid, pre‑construction, progress, partnering, negotiation, and audit review meetings as required.
• Make recommendations and presentations to the Executive Management Team or Board of Directors on technical matters pertaining to state‑of‑good‑repair projects.

• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, administration, and implementation of system‑wide infrastructure, preferably in a rapid transit environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration in Georgia (desirable).
• Supervisory experience required.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of infrastructure, contract development, preparation, and administration.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
