Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
The Distribution Engineering I is responsible for the planning, design, and optimization of electrical distribution systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of power. This role involves developing engineering solutions for new construction, upgrades, and maintenance of distribution infrastructure, including overhead and underground systems. The Distribution Engineer will apply technical expertise to analyze system performance, ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and support the integration of emerging technologies such as renewable energy and smart grid systems.
Working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, contractors, and utility partners, this role plays a key part in delivering high‑quality engineering solutions that support customer needs and organizational objectives.
- Lead and execute designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems (4‑69kV) by preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and calculations for review and approval by a Senior Engineer as well as safely performing field walk‑downs to document existing conditions and generate material and labor specifications.
- Apply client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures—or appropriate industry standards—in preparing design drawings as well as coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with all specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Review and perform quality assurance for design deliverables (internal and external design).
- Audit of design packages and construction jobs to ensure adherence of Project Engineering standards.
- Ensure the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management practices into final products/designs/processes.
- Regularly communicate and coordinate project activities with internal team members and begin to build relationships with clients—with some help and guidance from your supervisor.
