Estimator – Energy & Utilities Industry
Location:
Hybrid – Atlanta, GA or Naperville, IL (On-site Tuesday – Thursday, 3 days per week).

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator with Gas and/or Transmission & Distribution (T&D) commercial experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, conducting pricing analysis, and benchmarking project costs in the energy and utilities industry.
This hybrid position requires on-site collaboration three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday) in either Atlanta, GA, or Naperville, IL at the client’s utility company office. You will play a critical role in analyzing project requirements, developing cost models, and ensuring estimates reflect current market conditions and project logistics.
Key ResponsibilitiesCost Estimating & Analysis:
- Develop conceptual and feasibility cost models using historical data and industry benchmarks.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from blueprints, project specifications, and design documents.
- Obtain accurate pricing information from suppliers, contractors, and industry databases.
- Prepare cost reconciliations to compare estimates and identify cost drivers.
- Ensure all estimates align with local market conditions and project requirements.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, and project stakeholders to define project scope and estimate costs.
- Provide cost intelligence and recommend solutions to improve project efficiency.
- Support senior management in cost-saving strategies and data-driven decision-making.
- Maintain and update the Win Est cost database with the latest industry pricing trends.
- Analyze complex project requirements and deliver accurate, data-driven cost estimates.
- Modify and extend cost-estimating methodologies to address project-specific challenges.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced cost forecasting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in the energy and utilities industry.
- Strong background in Gas and/or Transmission & Distribution (T&D) commercial projects.
- Intermediate proficiency in Win Est and working knowledge of electronic takeoff tools (e.g., CAD Measure).
- Ability to develop conceptual cost models using historical data and local market trends.
- Strong understanding of local construction pricing, bidding strategies, and cost benchmarking.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a detail-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex cost data.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
