This opportunity entails being responsible for applying diversified knowledge and advanced scientific principles, theories, concepts and techniques of geology, hydrology, chemistry, biology or other related sciences to assist or lead all phases of a project including planning, investigation, and recommendations.
What You'll Do:- Under minimal direction, lead the collection and analysis of data obtained for projects.
- Determine or develop best methodology and technical approaches for conducting analysis in field work; set up test equipment as necessary toורת obtain scientific data.
- Examine and evaluate present and future potential environmental science effects relating to the planning, design, and construction of proposed projects.
- Serve as task lead or principal author in the preparation of reports on environmental science effects of projects.
- Provide technical scientific support on environmental issues to project managers during the planning, design or construction horm than of projects.
- Perform review of work to ensure the design or construction are in compliance with design criteria and scientific specifications and determine the need for additional investigations, studies, or alternate plans or designs if necessary.
- Prioritize and participate in the marketing and proposal preparation of potential opportunities or projects.
- Lead the preparation of applications and supporting documents for local, state, and federalaching environmental permits as well as other regulatory compliance laws and regulations.
- Organize and participate in public meetings. Attend various meetings with clients, other engineering firms, and staff and may lead discussion on environmental science issues.
- Mentor junior staff, provide recruiting recommendations and performance feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field and 8 years relevant experience, or
- Master's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field and 7 years relevant experience
- Provide technical oversight and guidance in the development of new ideas, data, and methodologies and how to apply it to techniques more broadly.
- Develop the standards of practice for the team by presenting new methods and approaches to zuletzt scientific and environmental analysis for application to the project.
- Lead marketing and proposal efforts (i.e., may serve as pursuit champion or oversee production and review of proposals).
- Review monitoring protocols to ensure compliance with design criteria, scientific specifications, and regulatory approvals/permits.
- Serve as senior reviewer of technical reports in their entirety, providing guidance to less experienced staff.
- Serve as a recognized expert in established analytical methods with extensive experience in their application.
- GDOT Ecology Support Service Experience
- GDOT Plan Development Process Training
- TDOT Ecology experience and/or Tennessee QIPT certification
- Design‑Build Delivery Experience
- Basic Wetland Delineation Field Course, Advanced Hydric soils field course, and Hydrophytic plants field course
- Experience mentoring junior ecologists
