How You Can Make An Impact

As a Mechanical Engineer (Signaling), you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems within complex signaling environments, such as trains and railway wayside infrastructure. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership, innovation, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects with minimal supervision.

Key

Activities
  • Lead the mechanical design and development of signaling components and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Write and develop technical specifications.
  • Design parts, assemblies and drawings using CAD.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally on design feasibility and continuous improvement.
  • Create designs according to company procedures, regulations and client standards.
  • Review and release technical drawings and BOMs.
  • Calculate factors such as tolerance, dimensions, thermal and structural analysis.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) at supplier facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD) and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 6‑10 years of relevant experience in sheet metal, composites, machined parts, assemblies, etc.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software – CATIA V5 experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PLM software – Smar Team or Team Center preferred.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
  • Self‑motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative to maintain project timelines.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
