How You Can Make An ImpactAs a Mechanical Engineer (Signaling), you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems within complex signaling environments, such as trains and railway wayside infrastructure. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership, innovation, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects with minimal supervision.
KeyActivities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of signaling components and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
- Write and develop technical specifications.
- Design parts, assemblies and drawings using CAD.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally on design feasibility and continuous improvement.
- Create designs according to company procedures, regulations and client standards.
- Review and release technical drawings and BOMs.
- Calculate factors such as tolerance, dimensions, thermal and structural analysis.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) at supplier facilities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD) and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
- 6‑10 years of relevant experience in sheet metal, composites, machined parts, assemblies, etc.
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling software – CATIA V5 experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of PLM software – Smar Team or Team Center preferred.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Self‑motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative to maintain project timelines.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
