Job Summary

The Senior Distribution Engineer is responsible for the engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects. This role supports the Field Evaluation Department and delivers cost‑effective, safe, and high‑quality solutions for Emerge clients, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. The Senior Engineer also provides leadership and technical guidance across teams and projects, particularly those involving complex infrastructure or key client accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
  • Lead and manage "Capital" and "O&M" projects through all phases of development, from concept to closeout.
  • Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, cost‑efficiency, and safety.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, consistently applying the highest standards for personal and team safety practices.
  • Ensure all engineering work meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Lead by example in interpreting and applying construction bulletins, standards, and engineering procedures.
  • Stay current with evolving industry trends and participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
  • Provide recommendations and engineering modifications to ensure system integrity and code adherence.
  • Lead high‑visibility projects for critical infrastructure and key accounts, including politically sensitive installations.
  • Prepare accurate project documentation, reports, and technical analyses.
  • Maintain records related to project progress, cost, and compliance.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for client stakeholders, ensuring responsiveness and technical excellence.
  • Address client concerns with professionalism and provide clear, actionable solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client partnerships that support long‑term engagement and satisfaction.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization’s goals and adapt to evolving business needs.
Attributes & Abilities
  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of customer tools such as: JETS, GIS, SOCKET, TCMS & Dist View.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book & Franchise Manual.
  • Strong customer service and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or part of a team.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Acrobat.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • EIT or PE license preferred.
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with industry standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Operates light measuring instruments.
  • Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
  • Requires field work in industrial environments.
  • May require travel 25% of the time.
