Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Company: Movement Search & Delivery
Location: Lithonia, GA
Pay range: $115,000 – $130,000 per year
Additional compensation: Annual bonus
Responsibilities- Lead deployment and sustainment of Lean Operational Excellence practices, emphasizing standardized work, leader routines, and daily accountability systems in focused production areas.
- Plan and facilitate Kaizen events and rapid improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, enhance quality, and shorten cycle times.
- Apply advanced tools like Process FMEA and error‑proofing techniques to diagnose and prevent recurring manufacturing problems.
- Perform industrial engineering studies, including line balancing, workload analysis, and staffing optimization, to maximize capacity and meet production demands.
- Manage large‑scale capital investments from initial justification (including ROI and NPV calculations) through vendor selection, installation, and handover to operations (examples include new laser cutting systems, presses, or automated assembly equipment).
- Serve as technical expert for introducing automation and advanced technologies, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and output requirements.
- Oversee significant facility layout changes and process redesigns tied to plant reorganizations or new product launches, prioritizing safe and efficient workflows.
- Employ structured problem‑solving approaches (such as 8D, DMAIC, or Design of Experiments) to address persistent production and quality challenges.
- Partner with design and product engineering teams to drive cost reductions and improve manufacturability for new or updated products.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering within a high‑volume production setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent technical degree/experience).
- Solid foundation in mechanical and/or electrical systems; expertise in creating, implementing, and verifying standardized work, line balancing, and capacity modeling.
- Skilled in formal problem‑solving frameworks (e.g., 8D, A3) and leading Process FMEA sessions.
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
- Hands‑on experience with Lean Six Sigma tools, including Kaizen, 5S, and visual controls.
- Track record of leading cross‑functional teams and capital projects from approval to completion.
- Strong change management skills to drive adoption at all levels, especially on the production floor.
- Advanced analytical abilities to turn data into actionable plans and compelling business cases.
- Outstanding communication skills for explaining technical concepts to operators, supervisors, and senior leaders.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and statistical tools like Minitab.
