Position MissionThis position will provide subject‑matter expertise across supply chain engineering functions to help transform the GPC supply chain into a competitive advantage for the company. The person in this role will apply deep engineering expertise to:
- Identify and design the right supply chain for the network.
- Design multiple‑node distribution centers of the future.
- Identify and implement capacity improvements in the existing network to support GPC supply chain growth.
- Develop and implement DC design solutions across the enterprise to ensure continuous improvement.
- Design, develop and implement innovative warehouse automation system solutions including storage systems, material handling equipment and automation.
- Assess current DC operations to identify optimization opportunities to improve flow, throughput, capacity, productivity, and OEE.
- Establish and document engineered standards for supply chain facilities.
- Design new logistics nodes and distribution centers encompassing site planning, processes and flows.
- Activate projects including technical oversight, employee training and commissioning of all engineering projects to increase capacity, throughput, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Review and select new automation partners and technologies, along with facility design.
- Spec and document all systems, automation and storage systems including facility PIT.
- Perform flow, bottleneck, cycle‑time analysis and inventory slotting.
- Generate CAD drawings, conduct vendor red‑line reviews, and consolidate composite drawings.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to drive alignment on design scope and deliverables.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers; supervise L4–L6 design engineers.
- Partner on overall DC network design, including node type and location for key logistics operations.
- Identify and track DC capacities in throughput and cubic storage by process & product line.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 years of supply chain engineering experience (distribution, fulfillment or manufacturing).
- Experience developing productivity rates, labor savings analysis, engineering standards and process improvement.
- Experience in distribution or fulfillment facility design.
- Experience evaluating and implementing automation solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in engineering economics, simulation modeling and advanced data analytics.
- Experience leading small to medium‑size engineering and project execution teams.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with statistical analysis.
- Experience in value‑stream mapping.
- Experience working in a performance‑excellence organization (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
Leverages data analysis tools to explore highly complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements, and drives technology change within the scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions.
Business AcumenDevelops, evaluates, and implements proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. Influences business stakeholder decision‑making and translates requirements into strategies aligned with business objectives, driving the execution of deliverables.
Engineering EconomicsAdvises on financial tools, techniques, and approaches; builds multiple business cases, conducts and documents analyses of financial data, evaluates return‑on‑investment performance, and anticipates the impact of decisions based on financial data analysis.
Advanced AnalyticsApplies data analysis and modeling techniques to establish, modify, and maintain data structures; utilizes data analysis software and computing languages (R, Python) to analyze business data and build statistical models.
Process Flow DesignInterprets information to quantify anticipated outcomes of supply chain decisions; improves logistics processes using design tools; analyzes processes and recommends improvements.
