Job OverviewWe seek an experienced Fire Protection Engineer/Consultant based in Atlanta, Georgia. The position supports life safety, fire protection, security and mass notification services for commercial, institutional and industrial projects worldwide. The role involves significant management responsibilities across engineering designs and consulting projects.
Responsibilities- Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services such as life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, performance-based fire engineering design, with other P.E.’s or experienced consultants.
- Develop and review plans, specifications, and inspection reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in resolving design problems through field investigations, detailed design work, and coordination of design aspects.
- Identify applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct and document basic building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems reviews, and basic sprinkler and water supply systems reviews, including hydraulic calculations.
- Manage, plan and direct engineering activities for projects with support from others.
- Conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses.
- Provide quality control reviews of fire protection system designs.
- Lead quality control reviews for projects involving fire and egress modeling (FDS, Pathfinder, Contam).
- Manage projects involving computer-based modeling and review inputs for quality control.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
- Contribute to business development activities.
- 8+ years of experience in code consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
- Registered Professional Engineer required.
- Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation skills and effective communication and negotiation capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; enthusiastic about professional challenges and long-term growth at Jensen Hughes.
