Job SummaryTA's are responsible for the well‑being of Upward Bound (UB) students and for supporting UB instructors. Duties include counseling, academic tutoring, developing interactive activities, and maintaining close contact with students across all aspects of community life. The TA reports to the Director of Fulton County Upward Bound.
Responsibilities- Supervise students at all times to ensure general safety and compliance with program rules.
- Oversee students’ daily schedule of activities and assist in coordinating planned Upward Bound activities.
- Maintain an efficient operation by assisting with physical training, team sports, and leisure activities.
- Handle minor problems and refer all others to the appropriate Upward Bound staff.
- Monitor students during classes and create a conducive learning environment during study sessions.
- Supervise students at recreational activities, field trips, and outings.
- Provide assistance with daytime and evening programs as needed.
- Assist other staff with any other responsibilities.
- Reside on the college campus (one‑week overnight stay) for the duration of the Summer Enrichment Program.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the program and assigned by the Program Director.
- High School Diploma required;
Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees preferred. - Ability to work with diverse and underserved students.
- Interest in working with adolescents and excels in a team setting.
- Interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged students, and commitment to Upward Bound’s goals.
- Reliability, flexibility, effective communication, trustworthiness, motivation, leadership qualities, and a positive attitude.
- Preference given to candidates with backgrounds similar to program participants.
