Job SummaryAtlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for Part-time Upward Bound Residence Counselor(s)(4) for the Classic Upward Bound Summer Enrichment Program held at Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) in Atlanta, GA. AMSC currently serves 1500 commuting students on a beautifully landscaped campus located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Responsibilities- Supervises students at all times to ensure general safety and compliance with program rules.
- Supervises students daily schedule of activities. Assists in coordinating and providing oversight of students during planned Upward Bound activities.
- Helps to maintain an efficient and effective operation. Assists with physical training/team sports/leisure activities, etc.
- Handles minor problems and refers all others to the appropriate Upward Bound staff.
- Monitors students during classes and ensures that a learning environment is created during study sessions.
- Supervises students at recreational activities, field trips, and outings. Provides assistance with daytime and evening programs as needed.
- Assists other Residence Counselors with any other responsibilities.
- This position Resides on a college campus (overnight stay) for the duration of the Summer Enrichment Program.
- Performs other duties that are within the scope of the program and assigned by Director.
Upper level academically successful college student (at least 15 credits earned)
Preferred QualificationsInterest in working with adolescents and excels in a team setting. Interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of the disadvantaged, and commitment to the goals of Upward Bound. Intangible traits such reliability, flexibility, effective communication, trustworthiness, motivation, leadership qualities and a positive attitude
Proposed SalaryThe position does not offer benefits and it pays a $3000 Stipend for up to five (5) week Summer Enrichment Program.
