The Cathedral Preschool seeks an experienced preschool and early childhood educator to serve as Coordinator of Teaching, Learning, and Auxiliary Programs, a key instructional leader and collaborative partner to faculty. Rooted in our mission to educate the whole child—emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually—this role supports teachers through reflective coaching, professional collaboration, and shared accountability for high-quality, developmentally appropriate practice.
This leadership position is directly responsible to the Director for the supervision of the teaching and learning methodology, classroom management, and student assessment for our early learning and preschool students (ages 1-4). Faculty members at the Cathedral Preschool, founded in 1970, are part of a collaborative and supportive faculty with a common goal of continuously improving a great school.
NATURE OF WORKThe Coordinator brings fluency across multiple curricular approaches, including project-based, inquiry-driven, experiential, and play-based instruction, and works alongside teachers to translate educational philosophy into thoughtful, intentional classroom practice. Central to this role is the ability to provide clear, supportive feedback, guide professional growth, and engage in respectful, direct conversations when expectations or instructional practices are challenged, all in service of children and a strong professional community.
In addition to school-year leadership, this position coordinates planning and oversight of a short summer camp program. Camp planning begins in January, with camp operating for three, non-consecutive weeks across June, July, and/or August.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS- Model communication and compassionate problem-solving strategies and assist children as they learn to negotiate and manage conflict.
- Utilize technology and strong writing skills to communicate with colleagues.
- Develop and assist in facilitating parent programs and events.
- Model high standards of professional, responsible, accountable, and ethical conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Director.
- Partner with teachers through observation, reflection, and in-classroom coaching/modeling to strengthen instructional practice
- Provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback that supports professional accountability and growth
- Support implementation of the school’s blended curricular approach, grounded in experiential and child-centered learning
- Collaborate and train teachers on curriculum planning, documentation, and developmentally appropriate assessment
- Create professional learning communities among teachers to encourage lesson planning that will support provocations, observations, ideas, and interests of the students.
- Consult and collaborate with faculty and staff to develop an understanding of each child’s unique individual needs, planning for differentiation.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new faculty
- Collaborate with the Preschool Director on professional learning and instructional initiatives
- Conduct ongoing curriculum review and updates based on evidence-based practices
- Identify and address areas of the curriculum that require updating, developing action plans for implementation
- Work closely with teachers and the Director in planning and maintaining developmentally appropriate environments (indoors and outdoors). Maintain areas designated for dissemination of staff and children’s work (i.e., hallways, bulletin boards, walls etc.).
- Lead planning and coordination of summer camp programming beginning in January
- Oversee staffing, schedules, and logistics for three, one-week sessions of summer camp, providing leadership and direction during camp operations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS- 5-10+ years of preschool specific early childhood teaching or administrative experience required
