School Librarian Maternity Sub

Overview

The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy seeks a long-term substitute library teacher with at least 3 years of experience in teaching in elementary school. In the Fall, this position would be in the library full-time August through November serving students in grades Pre-K through 5th. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or certification in Education, graduate degree preferred in Library Sciences or Education.

• Implement daily lesson plans to students in grades Kindergarten Prep to fifth grade to support their learning on a fixed schedule
• Collaborates with team to plan and implement programs
• Uses multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and alters instruction to meet group and individual needs
• Maintains order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment
• Communicates effectively with students, their parents, and colleagues
• Although lesson plans provided, ability to select and use a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students, as needed
• Stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools
• Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues
• Incorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Works well in a team setting and collaborates well with Media Assistant to continue strong operational practices

• Thorough knowledge of teaching skills
• Organizing and managing a classroom and/or library
• Motivating and engaging students
• Communicating effectively and professionally with parents, other teachers and administrators, both in person and in writing.
