The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the full-time Director of Learner Pathways and Articulation in the Office of Technical Education Initiatives. This Director will report to the Assistant Commissioner for Technical Education Initiatives. They will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and marketing pathways for students to leverage prior learning experiences towards credit opportunities. This will include managing the evaluation of knowledge and skills acquired outside the traditional college academic setting to determine eligibility for college credit and advanced standing.
In collaboration with Adult Education, Economic Development, Workforce Development and Technical Education divisions, the Director serves as the primary point of contact for reviewing documentation that supports the awarding of academic credit or assessment eligibility. Evaluations may include, but are not limited to, transcripts, portfolios, standardized test scores, military service, volunteer experience, micro-credentials, Adult Basic Education (ABE) credit, and workforce certifications.
The Director will also be the main point of contact on the credit side for micro credentialing, articulation with GA DOE, articulation with four year institutions, Workforce Pell, learning employment record, and other learner pathway initiatives. This position will be located at the TCSG System Office (1800 Century Place, NE, Atlanta, GA).
- Develop and implement strategies to create pathways that allow students to earn college credit for prior learning experiences.
- Oversee the evaluation of knowledge and skills gained outside traditional academic settings to determine eligibility for college credit or advanced standing.
- Serve as the primary institutional contact for reviewing and approving documentation supporting academic credit or assessment eligibility.
- Manage the evaluation of various forms of prior learning, including transcripts, portfolios, test scores, military service, volunteer experience, micro-credentials, Adult Basic Education (ABE) credits, and workforce certifications.
- Collaborate with Adult Education, Economic Development, Workforce Development, and Technical Education divisions to ensure alignment of credit evaluation with institutional and statewide goals.
- Lead the development and maintenance of articulation agreements with the Georgia Department of Education, four-year institutions, and other partners.
- Serve as the main point of contact for micro-credentialing, Workforce Pell initiatives, and the Learning Employment Record (LER) system.
- Ensure that all assessments and credit evaluations are conducted with consistency, objectivity, and adherence to institutional policy, state regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Supervise and provide leadership to designated staff, including a manager and coordinator, ensuring effective operations and professional development.
- Track, analyze, and report data related to credit for prior learning and articulation initiatives to support continuous improvement and strategic planning.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy to ensure awareness and use of learner pathways.
- Represent the Office of Technical Education Initiatives in statewide committees and external partnerships related to learner pathways.
- Provide supervision to staff as needed.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal policies, as well as TCSG Board policies, in all program activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of TCSG.
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related work experience with articulation, credit for prior learning, and/or economic development.
- Experience in curriculum development, training, or workforce education.
- Experience with educational technology.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including K-12 schools, colleges, military branches, economic development organizations, and non-profit agencies.
