The Howard School is a private K–12 school specializing in educating students with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and executive function challenges. The school’s mission is to empower learners by addressing individual needs, leveraging student strengths, and fostering self-awareness, self-advocacy, and lifelong learning.
The Position
The Executive Director of Enterprise Growth & Operations is responsible for the strategic planning, development, operations, marketing, budgeting, and evaluation of all auxiliary programs and campus operations. This senior leadership role presents a unique opportunity to design and scale mission-aligned programs that serve the broader Howard School community while advancing institutional growth and sustainability.
The Howard School has created this new role as a strategic investment in expansion and long-term impact. The Executive Director will report directly to the Head of School and collaborate closely with the Business Office, Operations, Athletics, Marketing, Admissions, and other senior leaders.
Auxiliary Program Areas (potential)The Executive Director will oversee and expand all current and potential auxiliary programming, such as:
- Academic & Enrichment
- Summer programs and extended day-school programs
- Adult education and lifelong learning (evening courses, certifications)
- Learning difference support clinics including Diagnostic Center & Tutoring (Psych, SLP, OT, AT, Math)
- Teacher Training institutes
- Athletics & Wellness
- Sports camps and clinics (seasonal, skill-based)
- Youth leagues and training academies
- Wellness programs (e.g., yoga, mindfulness, therapy partnerships)
- Arts & Culture
- Arts enrichment programs and cultural offerings
- Facilities & Event Rentals
- Community use of campus facilities and event hosting
- Student & Family Services
- Morning and Extended day programs
- Childcare and preschool programs
- Parent education workshops and family counseling partnerships
- Diagnostic and tutoring services
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation
- Business incubators and entrepreneurial initiatives
- Professional development institutes for educators
While the school currently operates respected summer programs, it recognizes significant opportunities to expand and diversify offerings to unlock untapped potential.
Core Focus AreasThe role will focus on extending the school’s brand, driving enrollment, and strengthening community engagement through:
- Program Growth, Strategic Marketing & Promotion – Developing and executing a cohesive marketing strategy for all expansion initiatives
- Revenue & Enrollment Generation – Aligning communications and outreach with enrollment and net revenue goals
- Community Outreach – Building relationships with families, partners, and external users to maximize reach and impact
Strategic Program Development
- Build high-quality programs that achieve annual and long-term net revenue goals while advancing the school’s mission
- Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and administration to ensure mission and cultural alignment
- Design, enhance, and expand offerings aligned with long-term strategic and financial objectives
- Identify innovative opportunities and partnerships that leverage the school’s intellectual and physical assets
- Support admissions efforts by increasing market exposure and brand awareness
- Gather and analyze participant and staff feedback annually to improve program quality
Program Management
- Ensure safe, positive, and enriching experiences for all participants
- Oversee and collaborate with existing staff on all summer and auxiliary programs
- Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations aligned with school values
- Provide training, supervision, and professional development for program faculty and staff
- Develop and oversee safety and health protocols in coordination with the school’s risk management plan
- Collaborate with Facilities to manage campus rentals and usage policies
- Develop program pricing in coordination with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School for Finance & Operations to ensure appropriate margins
