Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction 50%
- Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and coursework on topics such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and public policy.
- Prepare syllabi, assignments, exams, and grading rubrics.
- Hold office hours to support students academically.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects or theses.
- Research and Scholarship 40%
- Conduct original research in their area(s) of specialization.
- Publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, books, and working papers.
- Present research at academic conferences and seminars.
- Seek and manage research funding through grants and proposals.
- Departmental and University Service 10%
- Serve on academic committees (e.g., hiring, curriculum development, admissions).
- Participate in faculty meetings and institutional planning.
- Contribute to accreditation or program assessment process.
- Participate in professional organizations and economics associations.
- Stay up to date with developments in the field.
Required: PhD in Economics, or a closely related field. Demonstrated capability or potential in developing discipline relevant peer-reviewed intellectual contributions is required. Equally important is the demonstrated capability or potential for teaching excellence within the discipline.
- Assistant Professor – Early level career
- Associate Professor – Mid level career with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience
- Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements);
- Desirable personal qualities judged by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Assistant Professor – Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to funds availability.
Associate Professor – Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to funds availability.
