Health Educator 3 - Safe Kids Fulton Coordinator Job Description The Health Educator 3 will function as the Safe Kids Fulton Program Coordinator and is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of safety education initiatives that promote the well-being and protection of children in Fulton County. This role requires an organized and proactive individual who is committed to making a positive impact on child safety through educational programs and community outreach.

The Program Coordinator will collaborate with local schools, community organizations, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to deliver workshops, training sessions, and safety resources for children, parents, and caregivers. The successful candidate must be certified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) or gain certification within the first 90 days of employment. This individual will also ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of all program activities, striving to improve the safety and health outcomes for children in the community.

Responsibilities

Program Development & Coordination

  • Develop and design safety education programs that address child safety in seven focus areas:
    Vehicle and Road Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Bike/Wheeled Sport Safety, Fire and Burn Safety, Home Safety, Sports Safety, Water Safety.
  • Coordinate and schedule workshops, trainings, and events in schools, community centers, and other local venues.
  • Collaborate with schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other community partners to create educational materials and resources.
  • Conduct community needs assessment and utilize data to identify priority populations, communities, and schools to inform programming.
  • Ensure that all programs align with Safe Kids Worldwide guidelines and best practices.
  • Attend internal and external educational programs and professional meetings for continuing professional education.
  • Represent FCBOH in attending meetings and events and making presentations to promote childhood injury prevention.

Community Education & Outreach

  • Provide training to parents, caregivers, and community members on child safety topics, including child seat safety, pedestrian safety, water safety, and first aid; lead hands-on safety demonstrations and interactive sessions that encourage active participation.
  • Share responsibility for planning, coordinating and implementing car seat checks with public safety officials to increase awareness among parents/caregivers who reside in communities with a high density of automobile accidents to promote proper use of car seats.
  • Coordinate Child Passenger Safety Seat educational sessions with site managers for clients receiving care at Fulton County Board of Health Clinics and local healthcare settings.
  • Develop innovative methods for delivering evidence-based safety health education in a manner that effectively engages young children.
  • Promote program initiatives through community outreach efforts, including presentations, social media campaigns, and local events.
  • Work with FCBOH Communications Department to develop and distribute brochures, news releases, promotional literature, and increase awareness through social media.

Safe Kids Fulton Coalition Coordination

  • Maintains active engagement of the SKF County Coalition and monitors implementation of coalition plans.
  • Schedules, drafts agendas, and facilitates monthly coalition meetings, including committee and ad hoc meetings.
  • Provides newsletter content and collaborates with FCBOH Communications Department to develop, design, and distribute bi-monthly SKF Coalition Newsletter.
  • Coordinates strategic planning for the coalition.

Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, businesses, public safety, and government agencies to enhance the reach of the program.
  • Recruits and trains volunteers to support outreach and education efforts at community safety events.
  • Provides high quality services to internal and external customers and implements customer service surveys to assess customer satisfaction with services.
