Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Department Head of Social Foundations and Leadership Education in the College of Education on the Dahlonega campus. The head ensures quality instruction, research, and program delivery, and works with faculty and leadership to develop policies, curricula, and assessment practices. Responsibilities also include faculty mentorship, student support, recruitment, and representation at institutional meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Manage/build the course schedule and faculty assignments each semester.
  • Attend state meetings on accreditation and assessment, and report program performance data to faculty.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Student Support Services to monitor academic HOSI.
  • Manage faculty issues, inform faculty of the Faculty Annual Review process, and conduct evaluations.
  • Work with faculty on curricular review and development, including new course and program approvals.
  • Consistently review and update the catalogue for the department’s programs and courses.
  • Post part‑time and full‑time positions as needed, train faculty to serve on search committees, and mentor new faculty.
  • Guide the Pre‑Tenure, Promotion and Tenure, and Post‑Tenure processes and facilitate committee selection.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Community Engagement to provide professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Develop departmental guidelines and policies beyond those listed in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Collaborate on recruitment strategies with the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Community Engagement.
  • Manage web page development and अंत.
  • Disseminate information to students, faculty, and staff and hold regular departmental meetings.
  • Participate in leadership meetings with the Dean and represent the department at on‑campus meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Education, research, or a related field.
  • Experience with CRM platforms/software for scheduling and communications.
  • Experience with K‑12 education and partnerships.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level in online, hybrid, and face‑to‑faceима.
  • Record of scholarly activity.
  • Experience with accreditation.
  • Prior leadership experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of current national and state accreditation and program approval standards.

  • Ability to work collegially with faculty and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to assume the rank of associate professor or higher within the department.
  • Dedication to collaboration and shared governance.
