Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education at Morehouse College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sports Management and Sports Leadership to begin August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of our undergraduate Sports Management curriculum and help advance Morehouse College’s mission through teaching, scholarship, and service. The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in sports management, sports leadership, sport finance, sport law, event and facility management, sport communication, branding and media, and/or sport analytics, along with general education courses.
Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in scholarly work and institutional service. This position is part of a faculty expansion approved by the Morehouse College Board of Trustees and Office of the Provost for academic year 2025–2026. Dr. Claude P. Hutto, Sr., Dean of the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies, will serve as Chair of the Search Committee.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Sport Management, Kinesiology, Sport Leadership, Human Performance, or a closely related field.
· ABD candidates will be considered with a clear path to completion by August 2026.
· Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level.
· Evidence of an emerging or established scholarly research agenda in sports management, leadership, or related fields.
· Commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
· Interest in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
· Experience or interest in securing external funding is preferred.
