Discover Your Career at Emory University

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world‑class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

Description

Do you care about making a change in healthcare? At App Hatchery, we believe that great digital products start with a deep understanding of the people who use them. As an intern, you’ll immerse yourself in user‑centered design (UCD) practices, shaping mobile applications that support healthcare and research. Whether you’re designing, building, or strategizing, you’ll work across disciplines to bring ideas to life—always with the user at the core.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore, experiment, and iterate, contributing to a highly collaborative team that values insight‑driven design, seamless usability, and real‑world impact. Our recent projects include a mobile app that supports low‑English proficiency patients in hospital settings, a voice‑based research platform for collecting ecological momentary assessments, and tools designed to enhance patient‑provider communication. These applications are already in real‑world use, with some deployed across hospital networks and others driving clinical and behavioral health research.

You can read more about our projects at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

As an intern with the App Hatchery, you will gain hands‑on experience in the full product development process, whether in UX research, UX design, UX engineering, or product management. You will work closely with researchers, designers, engineers, and product managers, contributing to the development of real‑world digital health tools.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about creating impactful, user‑centered products, and excited to own projects from start to finish. You will have the opportunity to develop, test, and refine mobile applications that support healthcare and research environments.

This internship is a great fit for someone who is self‑motivated, curious, and ready to take charge, as sometimes you won’t be handed a checklist. You’ll have support from the team, but you should be comfortable learning on the go, asking questions, and being vocal about your needs, ideas, and feedback. Your opinions will matter, and you’ll be encouraged to take your own direction.

This summer internship will start May 18th, 2026 through August 7th, 2026 (12 weeks) and will have the potential to transition the internship to a part‑time position during the academic year based on performance.
