For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications

MA/MS Degree in Landscape architecture; urban, regional, or community planning with minimum additional experience of 10 year(s) in Community planning and/or landscape architecture, recreation planning, project management

  • GIS and resource analysis skills a plus. Project planning and management. Knowledge of the fields of outdoor recreation and conservation planning essential.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook
  • GIS, preferred but not required
Duties

Enrollee will assist the Blue Ridge Parkway planning team and the Southeast Regional Storm Recovery Program with technical planning and design assistance in redesigning and rebuilding park facilities to ensure visitor access and use. Provide technical planning assistance, coordination and leadership on cooperative conservation, recreation and re-development projects related to Hurricane Helene damage. Working closely with the park and region to assist in successful, visitor-related and sustainable projects.

  • Assist in organizing and coordinating planning/design workshops and events and facilitate meetings both in-person and virtually for audiences with a wide range of subject knowledge and experience. This will include developing and implementing methods for substantively involving the interested public in the planning process, with diverse engagement of community interests. 40%
  • Prepare written and graphic materials and designs to communicate with public and professional audiences and may include writing, mapping, and graphics. 20%

    Job is primarily sedentary, but for site visits, enrollee should be able to walk short distances of up to a mile along unimproved surfaces. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
