Position Overview

WSB TV Atlanta is seeking a skilled and flexible Local Programming & Lottery Producer to support both our community affairs programming and daily live lottery broadcasts. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and detail-oriented producer with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to precision during live television events. This is a unique, dual-role opportunity to serve the public—both through impactful community storytelling and high-stakes live productions that air daily across the state.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Community Affairs – People 2 People

  • Line produce and write a weekly, 30-minute community affairs program
  • Develop and write stories on local nonprofits, community leaders, and positive impact initiatives
  • Coordinate with reporters, photographers, and editors to craft compelling video segments
  • Lead control room production during tapings with a clear editorial vision
  • Support special projects and station initiatives related to community engagement
  • Write content for digital and on-air news teams as needed

Live Lottery Broadcasts

  • Produce and write multiple short-form, live lottery drawings daily
  • Coordinate with control room staff, state lottery officials, and on-air hosts
  • Oversee all aspects of the lottery broadcast, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Distribute lottery video content to affiliate stations and digital platforms
  • Maintain tight timing and script accuracy during fast-paced, live productions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a line producer in a live broadcast or news environment
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging scripts for both long- and short-form content
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with newsroom systems such as iNews, and experience on both PC and Mac platforms
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and communication skills
  • Professional demeanor with a collaborative spirit and openness to feedback
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or related field preferred
