This position is eligible for Conlan's yearly incentive program. Compensation will be in-line with other Top 100 ENR ranked firms.

General Description

Assist project superintendent with supervision, coordination, and control of all construction activities including: direct supervision of construction personnel, coordination of subcontractors, job scheduling, material coordination, quality control, project reporting, safety monitoring and documentation, and customer relations. Assistant superintendent shall spend most of their time onsite coordinating self‑perform work as well as subcontractor work, checking quality and accuracy of work, resolving coordination issues, scheduling work activities and material deliveries, and ensuring site safety and cleanliness.

Assistant Superintendent shall comply with all responsibilities listed in Conlan’s EH&S Program, Safety Manual – Section IV.

Responsibilities include assisting Superintendents in the following activities.

  • Work directly with Project Superintendent / Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and supervise construction activities.
  • Assist in directing all field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Work directly with building / special inspection departments / third party testing firms.
  • Maintain good project documentation thru company management software.
  • Assist in maintaining construction schedule; identify and solve coordination issues.
  • Work with Project Management team to establish and monitor the budget.
  • Schedule inspections as necessary throughout the project.
  • Assist in preparing project schedules and sequencing of work.
  • Understand project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain an organized and safe jobsite.
  • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and safety‑toed boots.
  • Capable of working long days and weekends per project demands
  • Maintain accurate records of hourly payroll.
  • Walk jobsites regularly to observe construction activities and safety.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enforce a project specific quality assurance and workmanship program to include self‑performed and subcontracted work.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
  • Be respectful to others in all circumstances.
  • Manage jobsite safety and safe work practices to ensure all company employees and subcontractors are adhering to company safety policy.
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of SAFETY!!
  • Supervise completion of final punch list.
  • Other project related duties as assigned by Superintendent.
Physical Demands
  • Transportation to and from project.
  • Relocation for out of town projects when required.
  • Must be able to travel about all project areas, which may require climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, working from suspended staging, stepping into and out of excavations, and varying heights.
  • Must be capable of working in a variety of physical positions, which include, but are not limited to sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, walking and driving.
  • Must be able to lift, carry or otherwise move or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Meet Vision Standard:

    Ability to see 20/40 with both eyes together, with or without corrective lenses.
Environmental/Working Conditions
  • 99% project site and field office.
  • 1% corporate office.
  • Work will involve exposure to varying noise and dust levels.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, which include, but are not limited to, extreme heat, humidity, rainfall, compliment of all seasons, combined with varying starting and stopping times.
  • Minimum 3 years general contractor related or relevant experience on a field management pathway. Preference given to candidates who have experience working for concrete self-performing general contractor. Employer prefers individuals with long‑term tenure goals who have had prior stable employer relationships.
  • Must have an understanding of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts.
  • Safety training per Conlan and project requirements.
  • Able to communicate with others effectively.
  • Knowledge of plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of layout and equipment.
  • Proficient in Blue Beam, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project and Plan Grid.
  • Excellent organizational, written and communication skills.
  • Coordinate Vendors and subcontractors.
  • Be able to follow direction.
  • Provide references from past jobs.
  • Computer savvy.
  • Must be self‑motivated and TEAM PLAYER!!
