Onsite Construction Project Manager(Field-Based | Execution, Safety, Quality & Process Owner)
Role SummaryThe Onsite Construction Project Manager is the single point of control for all day-to-day field execution. This role owns safety, quality, schedule adherence, and disciplined documentation while ensuring work is constructed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and company processes.
This position serves as the critical link between the field, project management, engineering, and the client—responsible for real-time decision-making, risk mitigation, and maintaining control of execution under dynamic site conditions.
Core Responsibilities Field Execution & LeadershipLead all onsite construction activities from mobilization through demobilization.
Direct crews, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain safe, efficient progress.
Control daily sequencing, means and methods, and coordination with other trades.
Make timely, sound field decisions to keep work moving while protecting safety, quality, and scope.
Process Adherence & DocumentationExecute work in strict accordance with industry standard project management, QC, and safety processes.
Maintain accurate daily field documentation, including:
- Daily reports
- Photos
- Safety logs
- Inspection records
Ensure all field activities align with approved scope, schedule, and documentation standards.
Serve as the on-site enforcer of formal handover, change management, and document control processes.
Submittals, Drawings & RevisionsManage daily field-driven submittals, RFIs, and drawing revisions.
Ensure crews are always building from the current approved drawings.
Identify constructability conflicts early and coordinate resolution with engineering and the Project Owner.
Document field modifications and ensure as-built conditions are captured accurately.
Safety LeadershipServe as the on-site safety lead and authority.
Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and toolbox talks.
Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements without exception.
Stop work immediately for unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
Lead incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up.
Quality Control (Field-Based QC)Execute field-level QC checks at defined project phases.
Verify installation aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
Identify deficiencies early and drive corrective action before rework occurs.
Coordinate inspections with internal QC personnel and external inspectors.
Support company-wide QC feedback loops and lessons learned.
Oversee site layout, access, and coordination activities.
Interpret and apply basic site surveying information, benchmarks, and elevations.
Coordinate crane operations, including:
- Lift planning
- Rigging awareness
Maintain situational awareness of ground conditions, access constraints, and site logistics.
Critical Decision-Making & Risk ManagementMake real-time decisions balancing safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Identify and escalation risks early with recommended solutions.
Exercise stop-the-line authority when conditions threaten safety or quality.
Maintain control under pressure and changing field conditions.
Communication & CoordinationServe as the primary onsite contact for clients, inspectors, and other trades.
Provide clear daily updates to the Project Owner / Office PM.
Escalate issues early—never after the fact.
Maintain professional, solutions-oriented communication at all times.
Schedule & ProductivityExecute work in accordance with the project schedule.
Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans.
Track productivity and field constraints.
Project CloseoutComplete punch lists and verify corrective work.
Support final inspections and client walkthroughs.
Assist with as-built documentation and closeout packages.
Ensure site is demobilized safely, cleanly, and professionally.
Authority & AccountabilityFull authority over onsite work execution and sequencing.
Authority to stop work for safety, quality, or process violations.
Accountable for:
- Daily safety performance
- Field quality
- Documentation accuracy
- Schedule adherence
5+ years of onsite construction leadership experience (PM, Superintendent, or Lead Foreman).
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
