About the Role
RAFTRx is experiencing significant growth and seeks an experienced, hands-on Safety Director to develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy from scratch. Based in the Atlanta Metro area, this critical role requires regular travel to other company sites and active engagement in fieldwork, including accompanying sales teams and inspecting roofs and construction sites firsthand. This role will report to the CHRO while working directly with the COO and in close partnership with Finance.
The Safety Director will be responsible for embedding rigorous safety standards across all areas of our operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in safety within the building products or construction industries, especially in roofing and auto/travel safety. This position requires both hands-on operational expertise and strategic foresight to proactively cultivate and sustain a strong safety culture.
- Support the development and implementation of RAFTRx’s safety program with proactive safety measures, compliance, and accountability.
- Conduct regular site visits to perform safety audits, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to ensure consistent implementation of safety protocols, including on-site evaluations and rooftop inspections.
- Assist in developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs across all locations.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for OSHA compliance, incident reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze safety trends and data to support continuous improvement and inform decision-making.
- Assist with investigations into incidents and help manage follow-up actions to mitigate future risks.
- Support workers' compensation claim processes in collaboration with Finance.
- Ensure vehicle and travel safety protocols are integrated into overall safety practices.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety roles, ideally within construction, building products, or roofing.
- Experience contributing to or helping manage safety programs.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, compliance frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience participating in or supporting workers' compensation claim mitigation.
- Comfortable with regular physical inspections, including roof inspections and site evaluations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels.
- Willingness to travel frequently (approximately 50% travel).
