Position SummaryCarter Support Services is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Estimator (Construction) to develop accurate cost estimates and support competitive bid proposals for construction projects. This role is essential to project planning, budgeting, and cost control, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
The ideal candidate brings strong estimating experience, a deep understanding of construction methods and materials, and the ability to analyze data to drive informed decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed construction cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals
Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment
Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
Analyze historical cost data, market trends, and project risks
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions
Support contract negotiations and project handoff to operations teams
Maintain accurate estimating databases, documentation, and records
Collaborate with project managers and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle
3+ years of construction estimating experience
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs
Proven experience with quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Experience with commercial, industrial, or institutional construction projects
Familiarity with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or similar
Knowledge of contract types, bidding strategies, and procurement processes
Cost accuracy and attention to detail
Risk assessment and value engineering
Collaboration and stakeholder communication
Time management and prioritization
