Assistant Construction Manager – Gas & Heavy Industrial

This role will assist the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager with day‑to‑day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, client interface, field activities, and other duties required to execute EPC projects in the Gas & Heavy Industrial power sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to company safety programs and collaborate with the project team to manage safety and health performance of team members and contractors.
  • Build client relationships and interface with the client for proposals and project‑related items.
  • Assist in developing internal and external project risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Staffing Plan, Organization Chart, and Procurement Plan.
  • Contribute to negotiation, approval and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders.
  • Develop site mobilization and demobilization plans and support implementation.
  • Secure applicable project permits.
  • Support bidder registration, pre‑qualification, RFP preparation, scope of work development, bid selection, and contract documentation.
  • Implement project specifications, drawing releases and design changes.
  • Manage downstream contract administration (RFIs, submittals, minutes, change management, claims mitigation).
  • Support cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, project set‑up, close‑out and field progress tracking.
  • Prepare and report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows at meetings.
  • Prepare meeting minutes and support invoicing processes.
  • Establish, review and implement project documentation and filing systems.
  • Verify insurance, licenses, taxes, and securities of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Support and conduct safety, quality, progress and financial audits.
  • Facilitate materials receiving, inventory control, storage and transportation.
  • Collaborate with superintendents and site managers to verify subcontractor compliance.
  • Facilitate project turnover documentation and warranty/close‑out processes.
  • Maintain project compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in development of labor agreements and onboarding of craft/field supervision.
  • Analyze crew rates, labor burdens, and manage craft classifications.
  • Estimate, forecast and manage craft install rates and production rates.
  • Manage construction equipment inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, with at least 3 years relevant construction experience.
  • Applicable experience may substitute the degree requirement.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or program management in the aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water industries is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Must be able to meet the company’s driving requirements.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $105,000 – $165,000 annually.

Benefits include insurance, disability, time off, wellness programs, ESOP, 401(k), and discretionary year‑end incentive bonus.

  • Full‑time, 50% travel.
