The Project Superintendent is the heartbeat of the job site. This role is responsible for leading, guiding, and developing the project team while managing all phases of construction, from preconstruction through closeout. You will "build the job in your head," anticipate challenges before they arise, and lead with confidence, clarity, and accountability.
Success in this role means delivering high‑quality projects safely, on schedule, and in alignment with Varium Construction Group standards, while developing people and fostering trust across the entire project team.

- Manage all phases of construction including site work, concrete, structure, safety, soils, and finishes.
- Contribute to and support the preconstruction phase of the project.
- Maintain full understanding of owner contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Participate in and lead preconstruction and subcontractor meetings as needed.
- Learn AHJ requirements and proactively address compliance issues.
- Ensure Varium Construction Group standards are upheld across every aspect of the project.
- Develop and manage logistics plans and project schedules ("build the job in your head").
- Analyze site conditions and adjust logistics and sequencing as needed.
- Understand activity durations, identify schedule needs, and manage critical‑path impacts.
- Forecast costs and identify potential budget risks (site conditions, equipment, etc.).
- Establish clear expectations, boundaries, mission, and intent for each project and team member.
- Train and mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Superintendents.
- Assist in developing APM and PM skillsets.
- Step in for Assistant Superintendents when necessary to ensure continuity.
- Conduct fact‑based performance evaluations and address personnel issues early.
- Create and monitor individual development plans (1‑, 3‑, and 5‑year goals).
- Lead and facilitate meetings effectively.
- Communicate big‑picture issues clearly with Project Management and leadership.
- Listen, assess, advise, and make decisive decisions when required.
- Serve as the conduit of information across the project team.
- Keep all team members informed and aligned.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety.
- Partner with safety consultants and leadership to mitigate project risk.
- Complete Daily Reports daily.
- Manage and close out all third‑party reports (concrete breaks, soils, compaction, etc.).
- Capture repairs and solutions accurately and timely.
- Ensure client satisfaction and proactively address conflicts.
- Communicate what needs to be said—not just what people want to hear.
- Continually assess processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Serve both internal team members and external clients.
