Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
Location: Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA
Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Selectek has partnered with a growing Civil/Geotechnical Engineering firm that provides geotechnical engineering and construction project management services across the Southeast. We are seeking a CMT (Construction Materials) Technician to join their Charlotte team. This role will focus on performing field observations, construction inspections, and materials testing for soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing and inspections per project specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct testing for soil compaction, concrete, mortar, grout, and asphalt.
• Operate and maintain testing equipment, including nuclear density gauge and concrete testing equipment.
• Read and interpret civil and structural plans.
• Prepare and submit clear, detailed daily field reports.
• Communicate with contractors, engineers, and project managers regarding site progress and test results.
• Drive company truck to job sites.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience performing construction materials testing, site inspections, or geotechnical field observations.
• ACI Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification (required).
• Experience operating a nuclear density gauge.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing standards.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills for report documentation.
• Ability to review and interpret construction drawings.
• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling locally to various job sites.
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
