The General Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and coordination of multiple construction projects. Working closely with clients, leadership teams, and the Superintendents, the role is accountable for staffing and scheduling, supporting projects to ensure they are delivered in accordance with the contract, schedule, and budget. The position may require up to 70% travel.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage daily operational objectives, timelines, and goals.
- Lead others through coaching and performance management; ensure compliance with company policies, work procedures, contract and project schedules, safety, and quality.
- Participate in scheduling and planning of current and future projects, meeting regularly with staff and subcontractors to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges, and remove barriers.
- Monitor overall project progress and work site, review processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality of delivery.
- Read construction documents to determine requirements or plan procedures.
- Recruit Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 10–15 years of field supervision experience on medium to large construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of scheduling for multiple projects, cost/budget control, and safety procedures.
- General knowledge of all crafts of construction.
- Experience managing performance and leading a diverse field team.
- General computer skills (MS Office).
- Valid driver’s license.
Work is performed mainly in indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to all weather and temperature conditions and site‑to‑site travel. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment (construction site); to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements;
to lift, carry, push, and pull moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs without assistance and over 50 lbs with assistance; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate and exchange information.
