Key Responsibilities Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
- Strategically source products for assigned Residential Product Groups, ensuring alignment with assortment, cost, service, and inventory objectives.
- Communicate thoroughly and professionally with suppliers to negotiate pricing, programs, and terms that support Southern Carlson’s financial and operational goals.
- Actively support and execute the direction set by Residential Purchasing leadership, working on behalf of the broader Residential strategy.
- Willingly assist, coach, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders seeking support on Residential purchasing decisions, best practices, and supplier considerations.
- Issue all general merchandise purchase orders for assigned brands and divisions.
- Track and maintain purchase orders by confirming lead times, delivery dates, and current costs to ensure order accuracy.
- Prepare and/or review purchase requisitions as required.
- Review replenishment reports and replenish inventory as needed to support service level goals.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure stocking parameters are maintained and updated as necessary.
- Coordinate real-time product delivery status with distribution centers and branch locations.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing reports, including but not limited to spend analysis, over- and under-stocked items, vendor fill rates, and lead times.
- Work closely with key suppliers to support a strong, reliable supply chain and ensure delivery and quality issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Support the merchandising team with promotions, new stocking requests, updated price sheets, and supplier communications.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and order variances.
- Adhere to established purchasing processes and procedures.
- Support month-end activities related to inventory and purchasing.
- Complete additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
