You will You will work directly with Flexport’s end customers to help them achieve their logistics goals. Within your region you will partner with our sales and customs teams, subcontractors, carriers, terminals and trucking providers to ensure a positive customer experience. This role is designed to build your leadership capabilities within a global operations team, as well as broaden your exposure to your client base acting as their supply chain subject matter expert.

You will mentor and develop your team to uphold performance standards and guide them to solve complex issues for clients and vendors. You will have the opportunity to work with your regional sales team to improve and grow our customers’ business.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor, coach and support the execution of a 3-6 person team in the end-to-end movement of freight shipments for all shipments within the team’s book of business, including intermodal movements.
  • Use metrics to guide the regional team to improve and deliver performance, including data quality and shipment milestone timeliness. Oversee internal KPIs and SLAs that demonstrate quality service delivery.
  • Personally represent Flexport’s value proposition by leading shipment execution for new clients and opportunities.
  • Oversee the front line to ensure on-time shipments and appropriate handling of exceptions.
  • Build scalable operational infrastructure and procedures to maximize efficiency and productivity for customers; identify and implement improvements when needed.
  • Serve as the day-to-day relationship manager for clients and internal and external partners (ocean, intermodal and drayage vendors, and the Customs Team). Act as primary point of contact for escalations.
  • Analyze vendor performance data to inform performance management initiatives and lead improvement efforts with procurement.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, ocean carrier operations, or consulting
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to coach small teams in day-to-day execution
  • Hands-on, process-oriented, structured thinking with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Excitement to manage vendor relations and create best-in-class structures
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A client service mindset; you are obsessed with client and squad happiness
  • Courage to challenge the status quo when logic requires it
  • Experience generating ideas through data, forming hypotheses and developing experiments
  • Experience and enthusiasm investigating and troubleshooting the customer’s problem
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep regulators happy in our heavily regulated industry
