Job Title: Procurement Manager North America

Department: Procurement

Position reports to: Global Procurement Director

Duties And Responsibilities

The Regional Procurement Manager is responsible for leading procurement activities across North America, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, chemicals, and indirect goods/services. This role drives strategic supplier management, compliance, and operational excellence while supporting Italmatch’s sustainability and innovation goals.

Key Duties
  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
    • Develop and implement regional procurement strategies aligned with global objectives.
    • Manage key categories (raw materials, logistics, indirects) to deliver cost savings and value creation.
    • Conduct market analysis and risk assessments to ensure supply continuity.
    • Review and process Purchase Orders
  • Supplier Relationship Management
    • Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with suppliers.
    • Build strong partnerships to foster innovation and sustainability.
    • Monitor supplier performance and compliance with Italmatch standards.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure timely and compliant procurement processes across all North American sites.
    • Drive process improvements and implement lean procurement practices.
    • Act as escalation point for procurement-related issues.
  • Financial & Reporting
    • Manage regional procurement budget and deliver measurable savings.
    • Track KPIs (cost reduction, supplier performance, ESG compliance).
    • Prepare regular reports for global procurement leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with manufacturing, R&D, logistics, and finance teams.
    • Support new product development and plant projects through procurement expertise.
General Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a purchasing manager within the U.S. market.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies and best practices.
  • Demonstrable experience in the U.S. market and familiarity with local suppliers and sourcing channels.
  • Experience in implementing sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization and negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
  • Knowledge of local and national laws and regulations related to procurement.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ESG principles in procurement.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of business and management principles.
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with office related software and S.A.P.
  • Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check and pre-placement physical (including respirator) and pre-employment drug-screen.
Working Conditions

This role works in an office setting that routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This facility does contain one laboratory and manufacturing equipment so there may be exposure to loud noises and/or fumes.
