Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving growth
, building strategic relationships
, and creating new revenue opportunities for a company. Think of the role as the bridge between strategy, sales, and partnerships
.
- Identify new business opportunities
- Research markets, industries, and prospects to expand revenue streams.
- Build and manage relationships
- Develop long-term partnerships with clients, vendors, brokers, or referral sources.
- Sales strategy & pipeline growth
- Create outreach strategies, qualify leads, and move opportunities through the funnel.
- Negotiation & deal structuring
- Lead pricing discussions, contract terms, and partnership agreements.
- Market intelligence
- Track competitors, industry trends, and customer needs to inform leadership.
- Collaboration with internal teams
- Work closely with sales, marketing, underwriting/ops, and leadership to close deals.
- Relationship-building & communication
- Strategic thinking & negotiation
- Industry knowledge (finance, SaaS, logistics, equipment, etc.)
- Sales forecasting & CRM management
- Presentation & proposal development
Base Salary
- $60,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience)
Paid Monthly or Quarterly
New Funded Volume
- 1.0% – 1.5% of funded deal volume
- Example: $1,000,000 funded/month = $10,000–$15,000 commission
Dealer/Broker Origination Bonus
- $500–$1,000 bonus for each new active dealer that funds within 60 days
Tiered Accelerator (Optional)
- $0–$750K/month → 1.0%
- $750K–$1.5M/month → 1.25%
- $1.5M+/month → 1.5%
Annual Earning Potential
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $120,000 – $180,000+
- Top performers with strong dealer books can exceed $200K+
