Job SummaryThe Institute for People and Technology (IPaT) at Georgia Tech is seeking applicants for a uniquely multidisciplinary Research Scientist II specializing in AI systems and applied machine learning for health applications. This position emphasizes both research and engineering leadership requiring expertise in designing processes & technologies through computer & human systems engineering.
Responsibilities- Use human-computer interaction research methods to design and evaluate AI driven solutions in domains including healthcare.
- Provide project management for research software development, including task planning and effort estimation, roadmap creation, and tracking of milestones and deliverables.
- Design and lead research initiatives at the intersection of humans and technology, focusing on domains such as education, healthcare, workforce development, and manufacturing.
- Design new processes and technologies through human-centered computing and industrial and systems engineering techniques.
- Translate academic research in areas such as AI explainability into production-quality, reliable software systems.
- Maintain and monitor compliance-sensitive infrastructure for data analysis, ensuring system stability, uptime, and adherence to institutional and regulatory policies.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, sponsor deliverables, and dissemination of research outcomes through publications and presentations.
Bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering, or a related field, and at least 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Research Scientist IIA Master's degree in industrial & systems engineering, engineering or related field, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
- A Master's degree in industrial & systems engineering, engineering, or related field, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
- A Doctoral degree
- A Master's degree and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
- A Master's degree and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
- A Doctoral degree and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
