Library Associate - Permanent / Part-Time
THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE USED TO FILL PERMANENT, TEMPORARY AND PART-TIME POSITIONS FOR VARIOUS BRANCH LOCATIONS.
PERMANENT ANNUAL SALARY: $42,000 / PART-TIME HOURLY RATE: $20.19
LIBRARY BRANCH
LOCATION:
ALPHARETTA LIBRARY (PERMANENT POSITION) / CENTRAL LIBRARY/OUTREACH (PART-TIME POSITION). DUTIES ARE BASED ON AREA OF ASSIGNMENT.
- Associate’s Degree in a related field required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred. - Two (2) years of customer service or library related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Georgia driver's license may be required.
Provides customer service to patrons and the public: greets visitors and directs to areas of library; assists patrons with self-check and library services; registers new patrons; researches book titles etc.
Staffs circulation desk: checks library materials in/out; operates automated circulation system; retrieves holds; inspects materials for damage; sorts materials.
May lead staff as needed; establishes workloads and prioritizes work assignments; resolves staff issues; establishes service desk schedules.
Performs library accounting functions and manages budget accounts within assigned area.
Operates computer data entry and utilizes related software programs.
Interprets library rules, policies, and procedures; offers assistance in development of bibliographies.
Assists in planning, developing, and implementing programs and workshops for various populations; plans and prepares displays, exhibits, bulletin boards.
Provides assistance to library patrons in use of computer resources; teaches users basic functions and operating techniques.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, schedules; receives various forms, reports, and documents; answers telephone; communicates with supervisor, employees, volunteers, library patrons, community organizations, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities.
Serves on committees and task forces; assists in drafting policies and procedures, and making recommendations to supervisor.
